J.F. Holmes is a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant who turned to writing after more than twenty years of military service. His fiction draws heavily on that experience, filling his books with authentic portrayals of soldiers, chain-of-command dynamics, and the practical realities of combat.

His longest-running work is the Zombie Killer Blues series, which began in 2013 with Even Zombie Killers Get The Blues and has grown to twelve books. The series follows military survivors fighting through a zombie apocalypse, with a focus on small-unit tactics and the bonds between soldiers. The Fae Wars, which started in 2021 with Onslaught, imagines a modern-day conflict between humans and the Fae and has become one of his most prolific series with ten books through 2026.

Holmes has also written military science fiction (Fallen Empire, IST-1, Invasion), a military humor series (Power Point Ranger), a children’s book (Tuscana Adventures), and mystery thrillers (Black Rifle Security & Investigations). He publishes at a rapid pace, often releasing multiple books per year.
