Iris Gottlieb is an illustrator and author whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, and NPR. She lives in North Carolina and has written and illustrated four non-fiction books alongside a busy freelance illustration career.
Her books take big, sometimes abstract subjects and make them approachable through hand-drawn art and clear writing. Natural Attraction looks at symbiotic relationships in the animal kingdom. Seeing Science covers physics, biology, and astronomy in illustrated form. Seeing Gender is a researched guide to identity and expression, and Who Gives a Poop? tackles the surprisingly interesting science of digestion. Each book is designed for curious readers of any age who like learning through pictures as much as words.
