Imogen Matthews is an Oxford-based author who was born in Rijswijk, Netherlands, to a Dutch mother and English father. Her mother lived through the Hunger Winter of 1944-45, and those family stories became the foundation of her fiction. All of her novels are based on true events from WWII Holland.
Her Wartime Holland series (2021-2022) and The Dutch Girls series (2023-2024) cover different corners of the same period: resistance fighters, hidden Jewish families, and ordinary people caught up in the occupation. Her books are published by Bookouture, a digital imprint of Hachette.
