Henry K. Ripplinger is a Canadian author, artist, and educator from Regina, Saskatchewan. Before becoming a novelist, he had a long career as a high school art teacher and guidance counselor, and he is also a professional painter whose work has been exhibited across Canada. He turned to fiction writing later in life, publishing his first novel, Pewter Angels, in 2010 at age 68.
All seven of his books belong to The Angelic Letters series, a faith-based love story that begins in 1956 when two teenagers, Henry Pederson and Jenny Sarsky, fall in love during a single summer in Regina. When Jenny’s family moves away, the two are separated, and the series follows their lives over the ensuing decades as they marry other people, raise families, and carry the memory of each other through the years. Guardian angels, answered prayers, and divine intervention are woven throughout the story.
The series developed a devoted readership among fans of Christian fiction, particularly in Canada. Ripplinger draws on his own experiences growing up on the Canadian prairies, and the books have a strong sense of place rooted in Saskatchewan. The final volume, The Heart of an Angel, was published in 2018.
