Helen C. Escott is a Canadian crime and thriller writer from Newfoundland and Labrador. She began publishing with the short story collection I Am Funny Like That in 2016 and moved to novels with Operation Wormwood in 2018. Her fiction is rooted in her home province, using its landscape and institutions as the backdrop for stories about crime, corruption, and the people who investigate them.
Her “Operation” novels form the core of her output. Operation Wormwood (2018), Operation Vanished (2019), Operation Trafficked (2021), and Operation Masonic (2022) are crime thrillers that tackle subjects including missing persons, human trafficking, and secret societies. We Will Meet Again (2024) is her most recent novel. Before turning to fiction, Escott worked in communications and public relations in Newfoundland, experience that informs her understanding of how institutions and communities respond to crisis.
