Hedley Thomas is an Australian investigative journalist who has written two non-fiction books. He is best known for creating The Teacher’s Pet, a true crime podcast that became one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world and helped reopen a decades-old missing persons case.
Thomas’s first book, Sick to Death (2007), examined failures in the Australian healthcare system. The Teacher’s Pet (2023) grew out of his podcast investigating the 1982 disappearance of Lynette Dawson, whose husband Chris Dawson was eventually charged and convicted of her murder in 2022. Thomas’s reporting played a direct role in bringing renewed public and police attention to the case.
