Gene Kerrigan grew up in Cabra, Dublin, and has worked as a journalist for over 30 years. He was named Irish Journalist of the Year in 1985 and 1990, and his early career focused on political commentary for publications like Magill Magazine and the Sunday Independent.
Kerrigan turned to fiction in 2005 with Little Criminals, the first of four crime novels set in Dublin’s criminal underworld. His 2011 novel The Rage won the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger. He has also written eight non-fiction books covering Irish politics, crime, and social history.
