Gabrielle Zevin is an American author whose career spans young adult fiction, literary novels, and screenwriting. She published her first novel, Margarettown, in 2005, and gained wider attention with Elsewhere, a young adult novel about the afterlife. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry (2014), about a grumpy bookstore owner whose life changes when a rare book of poems is stolen, became a bestseller and was adapted into a film.
Her 2022 novel Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow brought her to a much larger audience. The book follows two friends who collaborate on video games over the course of thirty years, exploring themes of creativity, disability, race, and the nature of play. It spent months on bestseller lists and was named to numerous best-of-the-year lists. Zevin’s writing is character-driven and often examines how people connect through shared creative pursuits.
