Gabe Hudson is an American author whose two published books sit fifteen years apart but share a fondness for absurdist humor. His debut, the short story collection Dear Mr. President (2002), was named a Notable Book of the Year by the New York Times and drew attention for its satirical take on war, patriotism, and the Gulf War.
His second book, Gork, the Teenage Dragon (2017), took a very different approach. It is a comic novel about a teenage dragon at a military academy on a distant planet who needs to find a prom date to avoid being eaten by his classmates. The book blends science fiction with coming-of-age comedy in a way that has little in common with Dear Mr. President beyond Hudson’s taste for the strange and funny.
