Eva Woods is a pen name of Claire McGowan, a Northern Irish author who also writes crime fiction under her own name. As Eva Woods, she has published seven novels of contemporary and women’s fiction between 2015 and 2022. She grew up in a small village in Northern Ireland, studied English and French at Oxford, and now lives in London, where she also teaches creative writing.
Her debut as Eva Woods was The Thirty List (2015), followed by The Ex Factor (2016), a romantic comedy about four friends who agree to date each other’s exes. Something Like Happy (2017), published in the UK as How to Be Happy, is about a grieving woman who meets a terminally ill patient determined to find joy in her final days. Several of her books have alternate UK and US titles: The Inbetween Days was also published as The Lives We Touch. Her more recent novels include The Man I Can’t Forget (2019), The Heartbreak Club (2021), and You Are Here (2022). These books share a focus on friendship, loss, and the messy process of starting over.
