Eric Schumacher writes fiction set in the Viking and early medieval world. His first book, God’s Hammer, came out in 2004 as the opening entry in Hakon’s Saga, which grew to four books with Raven’s Feast (2017), War King (2018), and the prequel novella Mollebakken (2019). The series takes its name from a Norse protagonist, and the titles point toward war and ambition as recurring themes.
His second series, Olaf’s Saga, began in 2020 with Forged By Iron and has expanded to five books as of 2025, including Sigurd’s Swords, Wolves of Wagria, Riddle of the Gods, and Vengeance of the Damned. Schumacher has maintained a steady one-to-two-year gap between releases in this series, and the titles suggest a similar blend of historical conflict and Norse settings. With nine total books published over two decades, he writes at a deliberate pace, sticking closely to the same historical period and genre.
