Emily Elgar is a British author of psychological thrillers. She grew up in the Cotswolds, studied at Edinburgh University, and later worked as a travel writer in Southern Africa and as an events coordinator for international NGOs in New York and Istanbul.
Her debut, If You Knew Her (2017), was praised by Clare Mackintosh as “a stunning example of psychological suspense.” The novel features a man with locked-in syndrome who witnesses a crime but cannot communicate. It was translated into eight languages.
Grace Is Gone (2019) was inspired by the true story of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Elgar works as a support worker for a charity supporting vulnerable women and lives in Lewes, England.
