Emilie Pine is an Irish writer and academic who teaches modern drama at University College Dublin. Her essay collection Notes to Self (2018) became a bestseller in Ireland, praised for its unflinching honesty about difficult personal subjects. The book covers her father’s addiction, her experience with infertility, and her years in academia.
Her first novel, Ruth & Pen (2022), follows two women in Dublin over the course of a single day. Pine has also published academic non-fiction about Irish cultural memory, including The Politics of Irish Memory (2010) and The Memory Marketplace (2020).
