Elodie Harper is a British author who worked as a broadcast journalist before publishing her first novel. Her journalism career gave her a strong foundation in research and narrative pacing, both of which are visible in her fiction. She made her initial mark with two standalone thrillers, The Binding Song (2017) and The Death Knock (2018), before shifting her focus to historical fiction.
Her Wolf Den trilogy, which began in 2021, brought her widespread recognition. Set in ancient Pompeii, the three novels follow Amara, an enslaved woman working in the city’s most infamous brothel, as she fights for survival and freedom in a brutal world. The trilogy drew praise for its vivid recreation of Roman life and its refusal to shy away from the harsh realities faced by women in the ancient world. Harper’s 2025 novel Boudicca’s Daughter continues her interest in women’s stories from antiquity.
