Elliot Roosevelt (1910-1990) was the third child of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. After careers in broadcasting and business, he turned to writing in his later years, producing mysteries that cast his mother as a sharp-witted detective navigating political intrigue and murder.
The Eleanor Roosevelt series began in 1984 with Murder and the First Lady and continued for 20 books. Set during the 1930s and 1940s, the novels place Eleanor in various settings from the White House to Buckingham Palace, where she uses her intelligence and social position to solve crimes. Roosevelt also wrote the Blackjack Endicott series, featuring a Boston investigator working cases connected to FDR’s administration.
