Elizabeth Flock is an American author who transitioned from a career in broadcast journalism to writing novels. She worked as a correspondent for CBS and CNN before publishing her first novel, But Inside I’m Screaming, in 2003. Her books typically focus on women and girls dealing with painful circumstances, told with emotional directness.
Flock published five standalone novels between 2003 and 2012. Me and Emma (2005) is her best-known book, told from the perspective of an eight-year-old girl in rural North Carolina dealing with an abusive stepfather. Her other novels, including Everything Must Go and Sleepwalking in Daylight, continue to explore difficult family situations with sympathy and restraint.
