David Lagercrantz is a Swedish author and journalist born in 1962. Before writing fiction, he worked as a crime reporter and biographer, writing acclaimed books about Swedish mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović.
In 2013, Stieg Larsson’s estate approached Lagercrantz to continue the Millennium series after Larsson’s death. He wrote three sequels featuring Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist: The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2015), The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye (2017), and The Girl Who Lived Twice (2019). The Girl in the Spider’s Web was adapted into a 2018 film starring Claire Foy.
Lagercrantz has since launched his own thriller series featuring Hans Rekke and Micaela Vargas, beginning with Dark Music in 2021. He continues to write from Sweden.
