Dan Millman is an American author, former world champion gymnast, and coach. He competed as a gymnastics champion at UC Berkeley and went on to compete at the world level before turning to writing. His best-known book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, draws on his experiences as an athlete and tells the story of a young gymnast mentored by a wise older man. The novel became a 2006 film starring Nick Nolte.
Millman’s writing blends personal development, spirituality, and practical life skills. His 14 books cover a wide range of topics, from athletic performance in Body Mind Mastery to finding your calling in The Life You Were Born to Live and The Four Purposes of Life. Whether he is writing about body-mind training, everyday wisdom, or the spiritual side of daily life, his approach stays grounded in real experience rather than abstract theory.
