Craig Smith is an American author who has lived in Switzerland for many years. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern Illinois and taught English and Humanities at the University of Northern Colorado before turning to fiction. His writing ranges from contemporary thrillers to historical novels set in the ancient world.
Smith’s Kate Kenyon series pairs a wealthy young widow with an addiction to risk against a backdrop of art history and religious conspiracy. His standalone novels show even broader range. Cold Rain is a noir thriller set on a Midwestern university campus that was shortlisted for the CWA Ian Fleming Thriller of the Year in 2011. Every Dark Place is another dark crime novel, while The Horse Changer moves to ancient Rome, following the real historical figure Quintus Dellius through the civil wars of the first century BC, from the salons of Rome to the palaces of Alexandria.
