Craig Robertson is a Scottish author who spent more than twenty years as a journalist before turning to crime fiction. His newspaper background shows in the procedural detail and sense of place that run through his novels, nearly all of which are set in Glasgow.
His main series features DI Rachel Narey and crime scene photographer Tony Winter, whose personal and professional lives overlap as they work Glasgow’s most disturbing cases. The series began with Random (2010) and has grown to eight books. Each novel stands alone as a mystery, but the relationship between Narey and Winter develops across the series, and returning readers get more from the character dynamics.
Robertson has also written a standalone thriller, The Last Refuge (2014), set on the remote island of St Kilda. His work has been praised for its dark tone, sharp dialogue, and authentic Glasgow settings.
