Colin Cotterill is a British author and cartoonist who spent much of his adult life in Southeast Asia, working as a teacher and aid worker in countries including Laos, Thailand, and Japan. That experience became the foundation for his fiction, most notably the Dr. Siri Paiboun series, which follows a reluctant coroner in communist Laos during the late 1970s.
Cotterill won the Crime Writers’ Association Dagger in the Library award in 2009 for his body of work. Beyond the Siri novels, he created the Jimm Juree series about a Thai journalist, and has written several standalone novels and short story collections. His books are known for blending humor, the supernatural, and sharp social observation.
