Clare Marchant came to writing after a career in IT and raising a family. She joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association New Writers Scheme in 2016 and now writes full time. Her debut, The Secrets of Saffron Hall (2020), was published by Avon and has been translated into eight languages.
Her novels use dual timelines to connect historical women’s stories with present-day discoveries. Set mostly in Tudor and 17th-century England, her books draw on the landscapes and history of Norfolk, where she lives. Titles include The Queen’s Spy (2021), The Mapmaker’s Daughter (2022), and The House of the Witch (2024).
