Clara McKenna writes historical mysteries with a sharp eye for period detail and a knack for pairing murder with manners. Her Stella and Lyndy Mystery series follows American heiress Stella Kendrick after she arrives in Edwardian England to marry Viscount “Lyndy” Lyndhurst. The newlyweds have a habit of stumbling into murder cases wherever they go, from country estates to seaside castles to grand hotels. Murder at Keyhaven Castle earned Historical Novel Society Editor’s Choice recognition.
Under the pen name Anna Loan-Wilsey, McKenna wrote the Hattie Davish Mystery series, set in 1890s America. Hattie is a traveling secretary whose work for influential employers keeps landing her in the middle of criminal investigations. Each book sends Hattie to a different historic town, and McKenna weaves real events from the 1890s into the fictional mysteries.
McKenna is a self-described anglophile and avid teacup collector who lives in Iowa. She is a member of Sisters in Crime and a founding member of Sleuths in Time, a group of historical mystery writers.
