Claire Allan is a journalist and author from Derry, Northern Ireland. She started her fiction career with lighthearted women’s fiction novels like Rainy Days & Tuesdays and Feels Like Maybe, which dealt with friendship, family, and relationships in an Irish setting. She published seven of these between 2007 and 2015.
In 2018, Allan made a sharp turn into psychological thrillers with Her Name Was Rose, and she hasn’t looked back. Her thrillers tend to focus on ordinary women whose lives unravel after a single disturbing event. The Liar’s Daughter, The Nurse, and Ask No Questions are all built around secrets, lies, and the question of who you can really trust. She draws on her Northern Irish background and her journalist’s eye for detail, grounding the suspense in recognizable domestic settings.
