Chris DeRose is an American historian and non-fiction author who specializes in dramatic episodes from American political history. His debut, Founding Rivals (2011), tells the story of the election between James Madison and James Monroe that shaped the Bill of Rights. Congressman Lincoln (2013) covers Abraham Lincoln’s single term in the House of Representatives.
DeRose has continued with The Presidents’ War (2014), about six presidents navigating the Civil War, and Star Spangled Scandal (2019), which recounts a sensational murder trial in antebellum Washington. The Fighting Bunch (2020) tells the story of WWII veterans who took up arms against corrupt local government in Athens, Tennessee.
