Charles Brandt is an American author and attorney who worked as a homicide prosecutor and chief deputy attorney general in Delaware. His legal career gave him firsthand experience with criminal investigations, which he brought to his writing. He is best known for I Heard You Paint Houses (2004), in which mob hitman Frank Sheeran confesses to killing Jimmy Hoffa.
Brandt’s other non-fiction works also deal with organized crime and corruption. Donnie Brasco: Unfinished Business (2008) continues the story of FBI undercover agent Joe Pistone, while We’re Going to Win This Thing (2011) examines corruption within the FBI’s New York office. Suppressing the Truth in Dallas (2022) looks at the investigation surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy.
