Caroline O’Donoghue is an Irish writer who works across young adult fantasy and adult literary fiction. Her debut novel, Promising Young Women, came out in 2018 and explores workplace harassment and power dynamics with dark humor. She followed it with Scenes of a Graphic Nature, set partly in Ireland and partly in London, before publishing The Rachel Incident in 2023 to wide acclaim.
On the YA side, O’Donoghue created the All Our Hidden Gifts trilogy, which begins with a teenage girl in Cork who discovers a strange tarot card with real power. The series blends Irish mythology and modern teenage life, touching on themes of queerness, class, and community. Each book builds on the supernatural elements while keeping the characters’ personal relationships at the center.
