Asa Avdic is a Swedish journalist and author whose novel The Dying Game (2016) was published in English translation. The book is a dystopian thriller set in a near-future Scandinavia, where a group of government agents are sent to a remote island for what they are told is a loyalty test. The situation turns dangerous as the participants realize the test may not be what it seems.
The Dying Game draws on the locked-room mystery tradition and Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, filtered through a Scandinavian dystopian lens. It was Avdic’s first novel published in English.
