Antoine Wilson has published three novels across a 15-year span, working at a deliberate pace that reflects his literary fiction approach. The Interloper (2007), his debut, is a psychological novel about obsession and identity. Panorama City (2012) takes the form of an extended monologue addressed to an unborn child, following a naive young man’s misadventures in Los Angeles.
Mouth to Mouth (2022) brought Wilson wider attention. The novel is built around an encounter on an airplane, where a man tells the narrator about a long-ago incident in which he saved a drowning stranger. Wilson’s books are compact and tightly constructed, and he tends to use unusual narrative frames to tell stories about the hidden motives behind human behavior.
