Annie Hartnett is an American author of literary fiction who earned her MFA from the University of Alabama. She has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and the Sewanee Writers’ Conference.
Her debut novel Rabbit Cake (2017) was an Indie Next Pick and a New England Book Award finalist. Unlikely Animals (2022) was named one of the Washington Post’s Best Books and won the Julia Ward Howe Prize. Her third novel, The Road to Tender Hearts (2025), became a national bestseller and won the New England Book Award for fiction.
