Annabel Lyon is a Canadian author and Professor of Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. She began with the short story collection Oxygen (2000) before gaining international recognition with The Golden Mean (2009), a historical novel about Aristotle tutoring the young Alexander the Great. That book won the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize.
Lyon’s work spans literary fiction, historical novels, and children’s books. The Sweet Girl (2012) follows Aristotle’s daughter in a companion to The Golden Mean, while Consent (2020) examines overlapping lives in contemporary Vancouver. She has also written two children’s books about a girl named Edie and delivered the Henry Kreisel Memorial Lecture published as Imagining Ancient Women (2012).
