Anna North is an American writer and journalist whose fiction often blends literary realism with speculative or historical elements. She published her debut novel, America Pacifica, in 2011, followed by The Life and Death of Sophie Stark in 2015, a story told through multiple perspectives about a driven and enigmatic filmmaker.
Her third novel, Outlawed (2021), drew wide attention for its reimagining of the American frontier. Set in an alternate timeline where a fertility-obsessed society punishes barren women, the book follows a young midwife who flees to join a band of outlaws. North has also contributed to the anthology Robot Uprisings (2014). Her latest novel, Bog Queen, is expected in 2025.
