Angela Flournoy is a fiction writer whose work has appeared in The Paris Review, The New York Times, The New Yorker, and the Los Angeles Times. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she has taught at the University of Iowa, Princeton University, and UCLA.
Her debut novel, The Turner House (2015), was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction and won the VCU Cabell First Novelist Award. The novel follows the thirteen Turner siblings as they grapple with the fate of their family home on Detroit’s east side, worth only a fraction of its mortgage during the 2008 housing crisis. Her second novel, The Wilderness, followed in 2025.
