Amy Lynn Green lives in Minneapolis and writes historical fiction set during World War II. All five of her novels are published by Bethany House Publishers, and each one focuses on a different corner of the American home front – from prisoner-of-war camps in Minnesota to USO tours in North Africa to codebreaking operations in Washington, D.C.
Her debut, Things We Didn’t Say (2020), is an epistolary novel told through letters, newspaper clippings, and documents. It follows a linguistics student who takes a translator job at a German POW camp and begins to question where the lines between compassion and treason fall. The book won two 2021 Carol Awards (Historical and Debut Author) and was nominated for a Minnesota Book Award.
Green worked in publishing for six years before writing her first novel, and that industry experience shows in the careful research behind each book. Her stories feature women navigating roles that the war made possible – librarians, war workers, musicians, intelligence analysts – and she draws on true events and real wartime programs for her plots. Three of her five novels have received starred reviews from both Booklist and Library Journal.
