Amy Engel is a former criminal defense attorney who turned to writing fiction. Her debut was The Book of Ivy (2014), a young adult dystopian novel about a girl assigned to marry the son of a political leader, with secret orders to kill him. The sequel, The Revolution of Ivy, followed in 2015.
Engel then moved to adult fiction with The Roanoke Girls (2017), a thriller about a woman who returns to her family’s Kansas estate to search for her missing cousin, only to confront a dark family secret. She has continued writing suspense novels with The Familiar Dark (2020) and I Did It For You (2023). Her legal background informs the crime and justice themes in her work.
